Swallowed hairs are usually excreted undigested. However, in some cases agglomerations of hair can form in the stomach or intestine. This can result in constipation or the formation of what are known as faecal chains.
RodiCare® Hairball aids the elimination of hair and hairballs found in the gastrointestinal tract. Many rabbits ingest hair while grooming, especially during the moulting period. Long-haired rabbits, their partners and long-haired guinea pigs are affected all year round. These pets should be brushed regularly. Appropriate exercise, sufficient fluid intake, fibre-rich fresh food and enough hay are important for balanced digestion. Sudden changes of food should be avoided. Sufficient fresh drinking water should always be provided.
