Caraway and fennel soothe and relax the intestines. Blueberries, licorice, and mulberry leaves soothe the stomach and intestinal lining. Pectins and fructooligosaccharides act as nutrients for the growth of beneficial microorganisms in the gut, thus contributing to the maintenance of a healthy gut flora. Bentonite is a clay mineral with high swelling properties and the ability to retain large amounts of water. Dryads and mugwort contain secondary plant compounds. Propionate and butyrate are an important source of energy for the cells of the intestinal lining and strengthen the intestinal barrier.
